Nourish

An eight week group program to rebuild, rediscover, and relearn a healthy relationship to food ~ and yourself

What is Nourish?

Nourish combines the science behind habit change with the powerful support offered by self-compassion. We learn why dieting, willpower and trying to force ourselves to simply "stop doing that!" don't work, and ways to harness how our brains do work to our advantage. We also investigate how bringing mindfulness, kindness and curiosity to our physical bodies and actual experience can bring new information and profound awareness. We explore how to quiet the judgmental and despairing voices we've listened to for so long, and how to truly motivate ourselves–not because we are “bad” or “failing”–but because we care and we want to do, and feel, better. We ultimately discover new ways to relate to food, eating, and ourselves.

Your Role

The more you invest your time, energy, and efforts, the more you will get out of this program. The pre-session work (usually videos to watch from YouTube or practices to familiarize yourself with) and the post-session homework (mostly reflection questions, prompts, and practices) are both designed to engage, support and gently push you into considering various aspects of your thoughts, behaviors, actions and Self.

By entering into this group and this inner exploration openly, with kindness and curiosity as your guides, you are placing yourself directly on a path to truly transform your relationship with food and eating. You need to do the work, but you will learn that it doesn’t need to be “hard.”

This is not only a support group nor is it simply a diet or nutrition plan. It is an opportunity to rebuild, rediscover, and relearn a healthy relationship to food ~ and yourself.

Testimonials

"I was frustrated with myself that I never seem to find the willpower needed to stay on track with healthy eating habits I was trying to create. I expected myself to fail and be once more disappointed in myself, and label myself 'not enough.'

[I learned] that emotional eating doesn't make me weak, bad or cruel; that self-compassion is my friend. I have grown more conscious around food and I have learned to practice mindful eating. I’m choosing me and learning and practicing how to be my own support."

Testimonials

"I really like Juanita's way of being present, sharing her own struggles, and trying to find something useful in each person's contributions. It shows what a good listener she is, and that she listens without judgment.

I also liked the smallness of the group. We could take turns and each person got time to share, but no one person was taking up too much of the time."

Testimonials

"Food has always been a source of comfort but also a no-no. I would overeat on purpose at times, but I'm not sure for what reason. I would reward myself with food a lot of the time.

I had thought I would never get to the bottom of understanding my relationship with food, but learning about how our brains work in relation to food has really shed a whole new light on that relationship for me.

I genuinely feel so much more in control of what I put in my body and being aware of why I'm doing it."
